The Basic School (TBS), Quantico, VA
4-month course from January to May
The Warrant Officer Basic Course trains and
educates newly appointed and commissioned
warrant officers in the high standards of
professional knowledge, esprit de corps, and
leadership required to transition from enlisted
Marine to officer, with particular emphasis on
the duties, responsibilities and warfighting
skills required to serve as a platoon
commander in a support role.
CBRND BASIC WARRANT OFFICER COURSE

3-month course from June to August
The CBRND Basic Warrant Officer Course
provides new warrant officers with the
knowledge and skills to function as leaders,
coordinators, technical advisers, and special
staff officers for their commanding officers.

Warrant officers are highly specialized
officers. They are self-aware and adaptive
combat leaders, trainers, staff officers, and
advisors. Warrant officers are competent and
confident warriors, innovative integrators of
emerging technologies, dynamic teachers,
and developers of specialized teams of

WHAT IS A 5702?
Function as supervisors, coordinators, technical
advisers, and Special Staff Officers to the
Commanding Officer for operational and
technical functions associated with CBRN and
supporting Combating Weapons of Mass
Destruction (C-WMD) related issues within the
command.
Provide technical expertise pertaining to the
management, procurement, and distribution of
CBRN capabilities.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise CBRN related
training, and prepare plans, annexes, orders,
and standard operating procedures relative
to CBRN.
Advise commanders on the vulnerability of
their own forces, and work with intelligence,
plans and operations, and logistics
communities in collecting, evaluating, and
dissemination of information concerning
enemy/ adversary CBRN capabilities, as well
as other information relating to CBRN threats
and hazards supporting C-WMD objectives.

SELECTION CRITERIA
GENERAL ADMIN REQUIREMENTS
US Citizenship (No Waivers)
Electronics Repair (EL) Score of 110 or higher
or a minimum combined English and Math
score of 39 or a composite score of 22 on the
American College Test (ACT) or a minimum
combined Math and Verbal score of 1000 on
the Scholastic Aptitude Test (ACT).
Marines must submit a 200-400 word essay
that must address why they want to become
a WO of Marines.
High School Graduate or have a GED (No
Waivers)
Secret Security Clearance
Sergeant (E-5) and above
1st Class Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and
Combat Fitness Test (CFT) and meet
height/weight standards
Pass the Appointment Physical for Officers
(Must be dated within 12 months)
Minimum 8 years time in service upon pinning
All applicants must have at least 12 months
Remaining on their Enlistment Contract

MOS REQUIREMENTS
Recommended feeder MOS’s: 5711, 5713, &
5769 with experience in multiple elements of
the MAGTF. Other MOSs can apply if they
have at least six month OJT in the MOS.
Currently hold or eligible to qualify for a Top
Secret (TS) clearance
