The purpose
of

Program (hereinafter identified as Suffolk-Stony
Brook
Nursing First Program) between Suffolk
County Community College (hereinafter identified as Suffolk) and Stony Brook Univ

sity,
Program
in
the School
of
Nurs
in
g (hereinaft
er

entified
as
Stony Brook SON).
The Suffolk-Stony Br
ook
Nursing First Program stipulates that upon
adm
ission to Suffolk
Associate
of
Sc
ience Degree
in
Nursing,
st
udents are guaranteed admission into the Stony Brook
SON Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program, offered through distance education with o
n-
site
requirements, provided that they m
eet
the requirements
set
fo1th in this agreement.

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse within l I weeks from the start of the program;
Prior to the start
of
Stony Brook SON Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program, all students
must successfu

y complete 3 credits
of
General Chemistry with an earned grade of C
or
higher
or
its equivalent (Advanced Placement grade 3
or
hi

r; CLEP).
Students
in
the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program should plan
ro
complete their
Baccalaureate degree at Stony Brook SON Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program
in
four
academic semesters
(o
r the equivalent for part time

udents) provided th

have earned the
Associate
of
Science D

ree
in
Nursing and
co
mpleted 3 credits
of
General
Che
mistry prior to
starting the Registered Nurse Bac

laureate Program. Completion
of
the degree requirements
with
in
four semesters (or the equivalent for part time students) is also dependent upon summer
semester matriculation
at
Stony Brook SON,

censure as a Registered Professional Nurse, and
the studen
t's
program
of
study and
pr
ogress in completing the requirements
of
the
Re
gistered
Nurse Baccalaureate Program.

lication form provided by Suffolk.
The
Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program is open to applicants
of
Suffolk Associate
of
Science Degree in Nursing
Pr
ogram who are first time matriculated freshman. Students on
VISAS are
not

gible

r the Suffolk-Stony Brook N
ur
sing Fir
st
Program.
Eligible
students
must

ty and
staff
of
Suffolk who will be involved
in

nsulting and
advising students enrolled
in
the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program.

Suffolk agrees to the following:
Suffolk will provide the necessary applications for
st
udents who want to apply to the
Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program.
The
cost
of
printing the application will be
assumed by Suffolk.
Suffolk will be responsible for the selection
of
ca
ndidates to the Suffolk-Stony Brook
Nursing First Progra
m.
Applications will be evaluated according to the crit
er
ia set forth
in
· this agreement and, at m
ost
, 65 students will be accepted.

of
those students
enrolled in the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program who are

the Stony Brook SON R

rse Baccalaureate Program, along with their

the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing
First Program:

relate specifically to students who are

ed in the Suffolk-Stony Brook
Nurs

g First Program and who simultaneously apply to

Suffolk and Stony Brook SON Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program. Some students who

ly to Suffolk have not decided upon their ultimate educational objective
or
transfer
destination. During their course
of
study
at
Suffo
lk
they may decide upon transferring to Stony
Brook SON Registered
Nurse
Baccalaureate Program.
Suffolk and Stony Brook SON agree
to
make every
effott
to
facilit
ate
admitting these students to
the Stony Brook SON
Reg
istered Nurse Baccalaureate Program by making ava
il
able to them
program information and consultation.
It is understood and agreed upon that
st
udents not
covered under this Agreement
must
meet the admission standards
of
Stony Brook University
SON Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program as outlined
in
the Stony Brook Undergraduate
Bulletin and complete a Stony Brook University School
of
Nursing
app
li
cation.
Term
of
this Agreement:
This agreement
is
effective beginn
in
g Fall
of
2017. Students who have applied for the Fall 2017
semester at Suffolk are eligible for the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program.
The
agreement will remain
in
effect for three years.
Stony Brook SON and Suffolk agree to assess the Suffolk-Stony Brook Nursing First Program in
three
yea
rs with the intent
of
extending the agreement making adjustments as necessary and as
appropriate. Amendments to this
ag
reement can be made in writing
as
mutually agreed upon by
both patties.
