The new Spectrum Guide is being deployed to some customers with HD digital receivers in

Settings & Support Quick Reference
The following settings can be accessed through the Spectrum
Guide’s main menu under Settings & Support:

Closed Captioning
Access Closed Captioning by pressing Menu on your remote and then Settings & Support.
Closed Captioning Settings
Description
Turn On/Turn Off Closed
Captioning
Displays closed captioning based on Onor Offsetting.
Presentation
Changes how Closed Captioning text enters the TV screen:
Pop-On: Text appears as complete sentences.
Roll-Up: Text scrolls up to make way for a new line
and the top line is erased.
Paint-On: Text appears from left to right one line at a
time.
Text Settings
Set your Closed Captioning Text Settings to adjust the color,
transparency, size and font.
Background Settings
Change the background on which your Closed Captioning text
appears.

Access Closed Captioning by pressing Menu on your remote and then Settings & Support.

Description
Window Settings
Select a color and transparency setting for the window
surrounding the Closed Captioning text.
Language
Change your default Closed Caption language.
Closed Captioning Type
Choose to see a full transcription of the program's audio as
text or a simplified version:
Standard Captioning: Displays the audio portion of a
television program as text.
Easy Reader: Offers simplified Closed Captioning for
viewers with a limited vocabulary (e.g. children). Easy
Reader is not available on most programming.
Support
Access Support by pressing Menu on the remote and then Settings & Support.

Watch helpful support videos right on your TV.
Preferences
Preferences can be accessed in the Spectrum Guide under Settings & Support.
Favorite Channels: Access Favorite Channels by pressing Menu on the remote and then Settings &
Support > Preferences.

Guide Settings: Access Guide Settings by pressing Menu on the remote and then Settings &
Support > Preferences.

Description
Guide Format
Set the Guide View in Standard quick-view format
or in Video format, which offers streaming video of
each channel. You can also change the Guide
View by pressing the Guide button on your remote
while viewing the Guide.
Guide Background Color
Change the guide brightness to choose either a
Light Guide or a Dark Guide depending on which
works best with your lighting.
Guide Display Aspect Ratio
Adjust the Guide aspect ratio for Standard
Definition (4:3) or High Definition (16:9).
Auto Tune to HD
High Definition (HD) Auto Tune automatically
tunes your receiver to the HD version of any
channel selected when that channel is available in
HD.
Channel Bar Position
Adjust where your Channel Bar displays on
screen.
Mini Guide Position
Adjust where your Mini Guide displays on the
screen. The Mini Guide is a small portion of the
Standard Guide that includes the program that
you are currently viewing and surrounding
channels.
Display Durations
Adjust how long you want information notifications
to appear on your screen.
Alert Notifications
Decide if you want a warning message to display
before you tune from an in-progress On Demand
program to live TV.

Settings & Support > Preferences. Then select Audio or Video.

Description
Language Preference
Change your default language for Secondary Audio
Programming (SAP) service, a secondary audio
stream that a broadcaster may transmit that includes
an alternate audio track in another language and/or
Descriptive Video Service narration.
Stereo Audio
Change your Stereo Audio setting to Enhanced,
Compact or Standard mode:
Enhanced - provides best quality with widest
frequency range (recommended).
Compact - provides lowest quality with
narrowest frequency range.
Standard - provides an in-between option.
Audio Output
Change your Audio output settings to Dolby Digital,
HDMI, or Other.

Settings & Support > Preferences. Then select Audio or Video.

Video Format
Adjust the screen resolution to best fit your TV:
1080i - highest pixel count - perfect for fine
picture detail on an HD TV.
720p - seamless refresh - great for fast action
and sports on an HD TV.
480p - seamless refresh - better for sports and
fast action on an SD TV.
480i - highest SD pixel count - fine picture
detail on an SD TV.

Adjust the TV picture aspect ratio for High Definition
(16:9) programming on Standard Definition (4:3) TV.

Descriptive Video Services
(DVS)
Turn Descriptive Video Services (DVS) On or Off.
DVS is a secondary audio track that includes a
voiceover description of key visual elements within
most programs, including natural pauses in dialogue
and actions, costumes, facial expressions, settings
and scene changes. DVS is not always available and
uses the same audio track commonly used for foreign
language. Spanish may play if DVS is enabled and
there is no DVS track.
Caller ID: Access Caller ID by pressing Menu on the remote and then Settings & Support >
Preferences.

Caller ID Notification
Display Caller ID info based on Onor Offsetting.

Choose whether the Caller ID on TV notification appears
on the top or bottom of your screen.

Support > Preferences.

Description
Power On Channel
Have your digital receiver tune to a specific channel
each time you turn it on.
Front Panel Display
Change the front panel display to show current
time, current channel, or nothing.
Time Display
Choose how you want the time displayed on the
front panel of your cable box: 12 or 24 hour clock.

Power Settings
As an energy-saving feature, set your cable box to
automatically power off after 4 hours of inactivity.
AC Outlet
Decide whether you want to turn off power to the
outlet on the back of your cable box, or leave it on,
when your receiver is powered off.

The Parental Controls settings can be accessed in the Spectrum Guide under Settings & Support.

Description
Set Parental Controls PIN
Set a 4-digit Parental Controls PIN to safeguard
viewing.
Turn On/Turn Off Parental Controls
Turn Parental Controls On or Off.
Hide Adult Content
Turn On the Hide Adult Content setting if you
want to prevent adult content titles from
appearing in the guide. If Parental Controls are
enabled, the parental control PIN will be required
to access these titles.
Content Filters
Use the Content Filters to be prompted to enter
your PIN when attempting to access
programming with specific themes or content.
Rating Restrictions
Turn On the Rating Restrictions setting if you
want to be prompted to enter your PIN when
attempting to access programming with specific
ratings or that is not rated.

The Parental Controls settings can be accessed in the Spectrum Guide under Settings & Support.

Description
Channel Restrictions
Turn On the Channel Restrictions setting to be
prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to
access specific channels.
Time/Day Restrictions
Use the Time/Day Restrictions to be prompted to
enter your PIN before accessing any
programming during a specific time frame.
Repeat the steps to set up to 10 restrictions.
Purchase Controls: Parental Controls settings can be accessed in the Spectrum Guide under
Settings & Support>Parental Controls.

Set Purchase Controls PIN
Set a 4-digit Purchase Controls PIN to restrict
unauthorized purchases.
Turn On/Turn Off Purchase
Controls
Turn Purchase Controls On or Off.
Set Purchase Limits
Allow purchases without a PIN by entering a
maximum amount allowed per purchase before
being prompted to enter your PIN.

Support>Parental Controls.
