ADVANCED PLACEMENT CREDIT
(Revised April 2023)
Many AP exams are eligible for academic credit at Wesleyan. The chart below explains which AP exams may be considered for credit.
Some exams can be posted to a student's academic history with no action required from the student. For those that state "no follow-up course is
required," they will be added to a student's academic history when official scores are received from the College Board. The process may take
up to a week before they appear in the academic history. If the AP credit is not appearing in a student's academic history, notify the Registrar's
Office.
For those AP credits that require Wesleyan coursework before credit can be awarded, students must complete the requirement first, then request
the credit through their WesPortal (Under "Courses," within the "Placement Scores & Recommendations" link). Requests will typically be
reviewed within 3-4 business days. If all requirements are met, they will be posted to the student's academic history.
A maximum of two credits (AP, IB, credit earned at another institution) earned before matriculation may be counted towards graduation
requirements. While a maximum of two credits will be counted toward the Wesleyan degree, there is no limit to the number of AP credits that
can be posted to a student's academic history.
Additional information about Advanced Placement credits may be obtained from the Dean's Office or from the relevant department.
