Summary: The U.S. Mission in Asmara, Eritrea is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position
of Human Resources Assistant (Records).
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of
agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Human Resources Assistant, the incumbent provides
assistance in the full range of Locally Employed (LE) Staff programs, including maintenance of electronic
personnel records and official personnel files, processing of personnel actions, and tracking of employee
performance reports and training. Serves as the Alternate Master Timekeeper for all American and LE
Staff. Prepares and tracks medical reimbursement claims for all LE Staff and their eligible family
members. Assists with recruitment of new LE Staff.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: At least two years of full-time post-secondary study (or the equivalent hours spread across
a part-time study period) at college or university are required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least two years of experience in an administrative/clerical position in a customer-
service environment are required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluency) speaking/reading/writing Tigrinya is required. Level III (Good Working
Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. (This may be tested.)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have working knowledge of office management practices, data entry, and data storage concepts.
Must have good computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
and be able to learn State Department specific software programs.
Must be detail-oriented. Must be able to research, interpret and apply a variety of HR regulations and
policies.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security
certifications.
