DESCALING GUIDELINES FOR

NESPRESSO® VERTUO®*

Instructions for all Vertuo®* Machines except Plus Instructions for Vertuo®* Plus

Note: The descaling process should not be interrupted. If the

machine is turned off during the process, kindly allow the descaling

process to be completed. These are general Vertuo®* machine

descaling guidelines. Consult your specific machine’s manual for

descaling instructions.

1. Empty water tank, drip tray & capsule container. *Ensure any

used capsules are ejected and close machine (do not lock).

2. Place a 34 fl oz/1 L container under the spout.

3. Fill the water tank with one dose of descaler (3.38 fl oz/100 ml)

and add 17 fl oz/0.5 L of water.

4. Close machine (do not lock). Turn the machine on to heat up until

the light is steady.

5. Enter descaling mode by holding the button for about 9 seconds.

The light will start blinking fast.

6. Lock the machine and then unlock again. Then hold the button for

9 seconds in “unlocked” position.

7. To start descaling, lock the machine again and push the button

once. The machine will stop automatically once descaling cycle is

complete.

8. Let machine stand for 5 minutes.

9. Empty and rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill with

34 fl oz/1 L fresh water.

10. Press button to begin rinse cycle. Machine will stop

automatically.

11. Now exit descaling mode by holding the button for 9 seconds.

(Not required with Vertuo®* Next). The button will stop blinking

fast and turn steady.

12. Descaling is now complete. Clean drip tray, cup stand, and

capsule container.

13. Allow machine to cool for 5 minutes.

14. Machine is ready to use.

1. Empty water tank, drip tray & capsule container. *Ensure any

used capsules are ejected and close machine (do not lock).

2. Place a 34 fl oz/1 L container under the spout.

3. Fill the water tank with one dose of descaler (3.38 fl oz/100 ml)

4. Turn the machine on to heat up until the light is steady.

5. Push the lever down for 3 seconds to turn the machine off.

6. Enter descaling mode by pushing the lever and button down at

the same time, for 3 seconds. The blinking orange light will

indicate that you entered the functions menu.

7. Press the lever down ONCE to enter the descaling function.

8. Push the button to begin descaling. The machine will stop once

descaling is complete, and the orange light will blink during the

entire process.

9. Empty and rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill with

34 fl oz/1 L fresh water.

10. Press button to begin rinse cycle. Machine will stop

automatically. The orange light will blink once every 2 seconds,

confirming the descaling process is complete.

11. Exit descaling mode by pushing the lever and button down at the

same time, for 3 seconds. The light will turn green and steady.

12. Descaling is now complete. Clean drip tray, cup stand, and

capsule container.

13. Allow machine to cool for 5 minutes.

14. Machine is ready to use.

Note: Descaler can damage surfaces. Avoid splashing/spilling

descaler on acid intolerant surfaces such as marble, limestones,

chrome plated steel, enamel, silver, and wood.

RECOMMENDED USAGE: Descale every 2-4 months. Do not wait

for descaling light to come on. *Estimated Duration: 20mins

(OPEN & TURN FOR CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS)

1. Please ensure that you have followed the general instructions BEFORE CLEANING as above.

2. Turn the machine on to heat up until the light is steady.

3. Place one Caffenu® cleaning pod in the machine (like a coffee pod).

4. Close the machine head and turn the lever into “LOCKED” position (Vertuo®* Plus locks automatically).

5. Push the button 3 times within 2 seconds to start the cleaning cycle. The light will blink during the cycle. It will take

+- 1½ minutes before a flow begins. The cleaning cycle will run for 5-7 minutes. Light will become steady once

complete.

6. Unlock machine and remove pod. CAUTION! Pod is hot!

7. Remove pod basket and drip tray from machine and dispose of cleaning pod.

8. Rinse pod basket and drip tray and place empty container back under spout.

9. Ensure water tank is full.

10. Repeat steps 2, 4 & 5 to perform rinsing procedure (Do not insert pod!).

11. Gently wipe down machine and inside machine head (capsule holder and brew needle).

12. Machine is now ready for use.

If machine light flashes red, or cycle does not begin: Open machine and ensure capsule is inserted

correctly and level; repeat step 4 & 5.

Cleaning Instructions for ALL Vertuo®* Machines

CAUTION: Do not use any corrosive cleaning agents. Not dishwasher-safe. Never submerge the machine in

water or any other liquid. Wipe the coffee spout and rest of the machine off regularly with a clean damp cloth.

NOTE: Water could build up inside the machine's head and pod holder during cleaning. Dry the accessible areas with

a clean dry cloth if this happens.

Soak pod basket and drip tray in container with solution for 2 minutes, then rinse with water.

TOP TIP

CLEANING GUIDELINES FOR

NESPRESSO® VERTUO®*

1. Rinse the water tank; then fill with fresh water. Put

the water tank in place.

2. Ensure any coffee pods are ejected and the pod

basket is empty.

3. Place a container of at least 34 fl oz/1 L under coffee

spout.

The Caffenu® cleaning pod was specifically designed to clean the

brewing chamber and spout of your Nespresso® Vertuo®*

coffee machine.

RECOMMENDED USAGE: Use one cleaning capsule after every 30

cups, or at least once a month. Office use: Clean weekly. NOT A

DESCALER! Please also remember to descale your machine with

the Caffenu® Eco Descaler for Vertuo®*. *Estimated Duration:

10 - 15mins
