WARNING: Do not allow the power cable to come into contact with
the rotating brushbar.
1. This machine is for commercial use only. Ensure full compliance with all
the instructions in this user guide, paying particular attention to warnings
and danger notices. The manufacturer will not be held responsible for
injuries to persons or damage to property caused by non-compliance
with instructions.
2. Caution only use and store this machine indoors, keeping the area you are
cleaning well lit. Do not use in explosive environments, when harmful dirt
is present (dust, gas etc.), on roads or public passageways or in outdoor
environments in general.
3. Keep ngers, hair and loose clothing away from moving parts
and openings whilst using the machine.
4. This commercial machine should only be used by personnel who have
received appropriate training. Machines should not be used by children.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance. This machine can be used by people with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the machine
in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
5. Before using the machine run a test on a small inconspicuous area
of carpet/rug/upholstery to check for colourfastness or pile distortion.
6. Only use Vax Commercial recommended tools, accessories and solution
with this machine. Using others may invalidate your warranty.
7. Check with carpet/upholstery manufacturer prior to using the machine
to ensure suitability.
8. Always vacuum your carpets thoroughly before carpet washing.
9. Clean water tank should be lled with clean warm water (max 40°
C
)
– hot or boiling water will damage the machine and invalidate warranty.
10. Use only CE approved 13 amp extension cords, as others may overheat.

Always replace fuse with a British 13 amp.
11. Always use machine with all water/solution tanks in place, keeping all
openings clear and free from debris, as this may aect airow/suction.
12. Take extra care when cleaning stairs.
13. Always use the machine in an upright position, never upside down
or on its side.
14. Store the machine in a cool dry area, ensuring all water/solution tanks
are thoroughly clean and dry.
15. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment should be worn when
operating machinery to protect the user, in accordance with an
appropriate risk assessment prior to use.
16. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer,
a service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
17. Always unplug the carpet washer before lling, emptying or performing
maintenance checks.
DO NOT:
18. Use this machine for any other purpose than that which it is specically
designed. Evaluate the building where it will be used and comply with
the current safety regulations and conditions.
19. Leave the machine plugged in when unattended.
20. Use if the machine has been dropped, damaged or left outdoors.
21. Run over the power cable or use if the power cable or plug is damaged,
and do not handle the plug or use the machine with wet hands.
The power cable should always be protected from heated surfaces and
open ames, and kept away from brushes whilst machine is in use.
22. Leave the machine’s controls on before disconnecting the power cable.
Always store the cable using the Velcro strap to avoid a trip hazard.
23. Use the machine to pick up hot coals, cigarette butts, matches or smoking
hot/burning items, or use in an area where it may pick up harmful uids
(chlorine, bleach, ammonia etc.).
24. Use the power cable to pull or carry the machine. Do not pull the cable
around corners, sharp edges, or close a door over it. Do not unplug the
machine by pulling the cable.
25. Carry the machine while it is switched on or while the water tanks are full.
26. Attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects – this may damage
the machine.
27. Use the machine with incorrect voltage, as this may result in damage
and or user injury (the correct voltage is shown on ratings label).

Initial set up
The carpet washer will be fully
assembled in the box, simply lift out.
Pull the handle upwards until it clicks and locks into place.
IMPORTANT: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing.
Check the carpet is colour fast
Before cleaning carpet/upholstery, test for colour fastness. Dampen a white cloth with solution.
Test a small area somewhere discreet. Gently rub the cloth over the area. Check each colour
for colour bleeding. If the cloth remains clean, it should be safe to clean the carpet/upholstery.
Helpful hints for cleaning carpet
1. Do not saturate carpet with water and cleaning solution when using the carpet washer.
2. For heavily soiled areas, additional applications may be necessary.
3. Allow plenty of time to dry carpet thoroughly.
4. Wipe cleaning solution from woodwork and wood to prevent any damage.
5. Try not to walk on carpet until it is completely dry.
6. After carpet is thoroughly dry, vacuum once more.
7. Ensure the power cable is hooked on the machine handle within the marked line area when in use.

CAUTION: Always make sure both tanks are empty or remove both tanks o the carpet washer
and refer to Manual Handling Operation Regulations before moving and lifting.

PREPARATION
Push the handle forward to make
sure the handle is in the upright
position and locked.
Tilt the carpet washer
onto the wheels and push
forward to move.
Lift and remove the clean
water tank.
Press the handle release pedal
and push the handle forward.
Lift and remove the dirty
water tank.
Use the carry handles on the front and back to lift the carpet washer.

Pour carpet cleaning solution into
the clean water tank. Use approx.
40ml per 1L of water.
Lift and remove the dirty
water tank.
Lift and remove the clean
water tank.
Twist the clean water tank cap
anti-clockwise and remove.
Fill the clean water tank with
warm water (max 40°C)
to ll level.
Re-t the clean water tank cap
onto the clean water tank and
twist clockwise to tighten.
Line up both tanks and replace
onto the carpet washer.
CAUTION: Always unplug the carpet washer before lling, emptying or performing maintenance checks.
IMPORTANT: Use Vax Commercial low foam carpet cleaning solution in the clean water tank
(water 40°C MAX.) Add Vax Commercial Defoamer to the dirty water tank, ensuring directions
on the label are followed.

Twist the handle height adjuster
forward and lift handle to the
preferred height.
Plug into mains and press the
handle release pedal. Pull the
handle backwards, and recline
to waist height.
For best cleaning results, use
slow straight parallel strokes while
squeezing the trigger. To pick up
dirty water, release the wash
button and move backwards.
Press the on/o pedal to switch
the carpet washer on.
Squeeze the wash button to
release water and solution mix.
Using the carpet washer
IMPORTANT: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing.
Check the carpet is colour fast

Pull open the hose
connector cover.
Plug into the mains and press
the on/o switch to turn
the machine on. Handle must
be in upright position when
using tools. (Upright handle
position turns brushbar o to
prevent carpet damage).
Push the hose connector into
the hose connector port.
Press the trigger on the hose
to release a clean water/solution
mix. Squeeze the trigger on
the forward stroke to release
water and solution to clean
carpets/upholstery.
Slide the SpinScrub™ or
upholstery wash tool over the tab
at the end of the hose until
it clicks into place.
Release the trigger on the
backward stroke to pick
up dirty water. Repeat the
process for cleaning tough stains.
Using the hose and tools
CAUTION: Always unplug the carpet washer before connecting or disconnecting the hose and tools.
Use extra caution when cleaning stairs to prevent the carpet washer from tipping or falling over.
Do not leave the carpet washer on or at the top of the stairs while cleaning.
CAUTION: Always check the cleaning code on your upholstery. The carpet washer should only
be used on upholstery marked ‘W’ or ‘W/S’. Check with the upholstery manufacturer before use.
Run the wash tool over a small hidden area to test before cleaning.

Lift and remove the
dirty water tank.
Pull to unclip the dirty water
tank drain hose.
Hold the drain hose over
a sink, open the cap and empty
the dirty water tank.
Push the cap back onto the
drain hose.
To remove the lid, lift and
un-hook the dirty water
tank latches.
Tip the dirty water tank to ensure
all the dirty water is emptied.
Lift and remove the
dirty water tank lid.

Empty out and rinse both clean and dirty water tanks after every use and leave to air dry before replacing.
Do not leave water and detergent in the tanks after use.

Replace the dirty water tank lid,
clip the drain hose into place
and secure the latches.
Rinse the dirty water tank, lid and all hoses attached under running water
to remove all dirt and debris. Leave to dry thoroughly.
Remove both dirty and clean water tanks. Lie the carpet washer on
its back exposing the brush
and brush head.

IMPORTANT: Dry vacuuming thoroughly before using the carpet washer will help to prevent excessive
build up of dirt in the brush head. Before cleaning, make sure the brush head is free from dirt or hair
for the best cleaning results.

Slide brush head to the right
to remove.
Rinse the brush head under
water to remove any dirt/debris.
Leave to air dry thoroughly before
re-tting. Make sure both brush
head release levers are closed
after retting.
Pull the two brush head
release levers.

Remove both tanks.
Using a pair of scissors, remove
any threads or hair caught around
the brushbar. Rinse under water
to remove loose dirt. Leave to
fully dry.
Slide and lift the brushbar door.
Line up and push the
brushbar cover onto the
side of the brushbar.
Remove brushbar cover
and brushbar.
Slide the brushbar and cover
into the carpet washer until
it clicks into place. Slide the
brushbar door down to close.

IMPORTANT: To maintain the performance of the carpet washer we recommend you check
the brushbar every 3 months and replace if worn.

Remove both tanks. Use a crosshead screwdriver
to undo 4 screws and remove
the belt guard cover.
Remove the belt and clean
o any dirt or residue.
Re-t the belt plate and belt guide,
tightening all 6 screws.
To replace the belt, loop over
the spindle.
Use a crosshead screwdriver
to undo the 2 screws and
remove the belt plate.
Line up and push the belt over the
belt wheel, turning the wheel at
the same time until the belt loops
correctly around the wheel.

FAQs
Loop the power cable and wrap
the velcro strap around it to
secure. Hang the velcro strap
on the cable storage hook.
Press the handle recline pedal
and push the handle forwards.
IMPORTANT: Empty out and rinse both clean and dirty water tanks after every use and leave to air dry
before replacing. Do not leave water and detergent in the tanks after use.

Store the carpet washer
in a cool, dry area.
IMPORTANT: For transportation fold handle forward and remove the dirty water tank. The carpet
washer can be lifted by using both carry handles at the front and back of the carpet washer.

Is there an accessory missing?
Check the machine overview section of this user guide to make sure the part is denitely included
with the machine.
Why won’t the carpet washer turn on?
The plug may not be pushed fully into the mains socket.
The on/o pedal on the carpet washer may not be pressed. If so, press the on/o pedal.
Check the fuse in the plug. If this needs replacing, always replace with a British 13amp fuse.
Why won’t clean water/detergent dispense?
The clean water tank is empty. Re-ll following the instructions in this user guide.
The wash button may not be pressed. If so, press the wash button to dispense
water/solution.
Why won’t my carpet washer pick up?
The oat in the dirty water tank may have been activated. Empty the dirty water tank and wait for the oat
to settle before re-starting the carpet washer.
The dirty water tank lid may not be tted correctly. Re-t following instructions in this user guide.
There may be a blockage. Check for blockages and remove.
The brush head may be blocked. Clean the brush head following instructions in this user guide.
The dirty water tank hoses may be blocked. Unblock the hoses.
The cap on the drain hose may not be tted or is missing. Re-t the cap or call 0330 026 4275
for more assistance.
Why is the carpet washer making excessive noise?
If there is a high-pitched noise coming from the machine, the dirty water tank oat may have been activated.
Simply switch o the machine, empty the dirty water tank and wait for the oat to settle before
re-starting the machine.
The brush head may be blocked. Clean the brush head following instructions in this user guide.
The dirty water tank hoses may be blocked. Unblock the hoses.
Why is the brushbar not turning?
The brushbar may be clogged. Check the brushbar and remove any hair or debris.
The belt may have broken. Replace the belt following instructions in this user guide.
The brushbar may not be tted correctly. Re-t the brushbar.
Why is there no suction in the hose?
The hose or tools may not be tted correctly. Re-t following instructions in this user guide.
