Requirements for Real Estate Majors
Real Estate Major Area Requirements:
Students must earn a “C-” or better in each course.
Real Estate Valuation (see 7 below)
Real Estate Market Analysis (see 7 and 8 below)
Real Estate Finance (see 7 and 8 below)
Real Estate Investment (see 7 and 8 below)
Legal Environment of Real Estate (see 7 below)
Additional Information:
1. In addition to the requirements outlined above, each student must complete all University-wide requirements for
graduation. These requirements include liberal studies requirements, the multicultural requirement, the summer residency
requirement, the FSU residency requirement, and total hours requirement. Depending on time of admission to Florida State
University, University-wide requirements may differ; please consult your advisor.
2. Completion of REE 3043 and REE 4433 qualifies students to sit for the Florida real estate salesperson license.
3. Completion of the real estate major qualifies students to sit for the Florida appraisal certification examinations.
4. Real Estate license preparation will not be substituted for REE 3043.
5. Selection of upper-division electives to satisfy the University-wide total hours requirement should be made after consultation with a
faculty advisor.
6. REE 4103 and REE 4143 cannot be taken together.
7. Note that REE 3043 is a prerequisite for all courses in the real estate major. It is recommended that students complete
the major course sequence as follows: 1

semester in the major – REE 4103 and REE 4204; following semesters in the
major – REE 4143 and REE 4313. REE 4433 can be taken any semester. All major courses are generally offered fall and
spring semesters; course offerings are extremely limited during the summer.
8. Qualified students may apply for the Combined Bachelor of Science in Real Estate/Master of Science in Finance (BS-RE/MSF)
Pathway. Students in the Combined BS-RE/MSF Pathway can take up to nine hours of graduate work that may double count for
their graduate and undergraduate degree requirements. Important information to note:
a. Students can substitute the following graduate courses for undergraduate courses: REE 5205 for REE 4204, REE 5305 for
REE 4313, and REE 5209 for REE 4143.
b. Graduation requirements for graduate degrees programs differ from undergraduate degree programs. If you are interested in

9. Please be advised that business courses offered in the summer semester are extremely limited.
