Dear Activities office, sponsors, and student body,
Hi, I am writing this letter to hopefully convince some of you to vote for me as one
of your three new junior class representatives. For two years I have sporadically
attended LoCo meetings, but never applied for a leadership role due to a variety of
unexpected reasons. Freshman year I was too in-and-out of the hospital to attend
meetings on a regular basis, so that was out. But Junior year is the year I hope to really
make a difference. I believe that I am qualified for the position due to my determination
to actually change our school for the better, my strong sense of integrity, and my
numerous leadership roles. In my past two years of high school, I have acted as a high
school hero, a captain of my lacrosse team, and a newly elected president and state
representative of We Dine Together. I am also a part of National Honors Society,
French club, Thirst project, and TVC board. I play tennis and racquetball as well, along
with pointe ballet.
Anyone who knows me knows that I always have something to do. Even if you
don’t, you can probably gather that from the first paragraph. My workload, my many
activities, and my social life always keeps me on my toes, but this year I have really
improved my time management and feel that I am ready for the Junior representative
position. I’m proud to call West High my school, and I want every single member of the
student body to feel the same way. If I’m elected as junior representative, I will make it a
priority to involve all students, not just those currently in leadership roles, in the decision
making for all future events so that everyone can have pride for the events we all
worked towards. I will also work on improving the quality and availability of our school
announcements. This year, due to having study hall fourth hour, I have watched the
announcements a total of two times. Because of this, I have missed out on some very
crucial information. I will see to it that others don’t miss out like I have, by reaching out
to inform those in charge and try to find a better way to handle announcements.
A leader is never just the people in charge. Every single student at West has the
potential to be a positive influence on others in their classrooms. I want to make sure
our class reaches their full potential, and helps others to do so as well. Through my past
and current leadership roles, I have learned how to effectively communicate with others
about a wide variety issues. I will do my best to use this knowledge to my advantage
while serving as your representative this upcoming year. Best of luck to the other
candidates, and I hope you consider me.
Sincerely,
Sarenna Wood
