DIRECTV’S TALKING GUIDE
If you have a visual impairment, the Talking Guide text-to-
speech setting on your Genie® DVR can help. Turn it on to
hear audio prompts that help you use DIRECTV onscreen
menus and guides. The Talking Guide also makes it easy to
find info about unfamiliar channels or content. Please note
that once Talking Guide is on, it stays on until disabled. To
disable, go through the same steps to turn Talking Guide on.
To turn the Talking Guide on:
1. Press the INFO button on your DIRECTV remote.
2. Press the right arrow once. A menu with options for
closed captions and the Talking Guide opens.
3. Press the down arrow 3 times. You’ll hear audio
instructing you to press SELECT to turn the Talking Guide
on. If you don’t press SELECT, the speech output stops.
4. Press SELECT to activate the Talking Guide.
Don’t have a Genie DVR or want help with the Talking
Guide feature? If you don’t have a Genie DVR or are
having problems enabling the Talking Guide feature,
call DirecTV at 1-800-531-5000.
To change the speaking rate or other settings:
1.Press MENU, navigate to Settings, press SELECT,
and then choose Accessibility.
2.From there, press the down arrow once and
select Talking Guide.
3.Scroll to the right and press the down arrow to
access speech rate.
