SAT Suite of Assessments
The SAT
®
Suite of Assessments, which includes the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT
®
,
P SAT
10, PSAT
8/9, reects what students are already learning in
their classrooms and gives you benchmarks for assessing students’
progress as they enter and move through high school. The tests
share a common score scale, making it easier to measure growth.
Research shows students can get ready for university and career and
improve their score by taking an assessment from the SAT Suite in
9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Students register themselves to take
the SAT on a weekend at a test center; for PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and
PSAT/NMSQT, schools can test their students in their own school.
International test centers began administering the digital SAT
delivered through Bluebook
, our customized digital testing app—in
March 2023. Reactions from our digital SAT administrations show
that students and educators nd it to be “a better testing format,”
“much less stressful than the paper exams,” “more secure,” and
“more relevant.”
PSAT-related assessments will be delivered in digital format for the
administration in the second half of 2023. Learn more at
sat.org/digital.
SAT
The SAT is a globally recognized university admission test that is
widely accepted by colleges and universities in the U.S. and around
the world. Students are sending SAT scores to more institutions in
more countries than they have in the past including institutions in
their home country. Millions of students take the test each year as a
step on their path to university, including those institutions that are
test optional.
The SAT is one of the most accessible and fair ways for students
from all backgrounds to show what they know and stand out to
universities. Students most often take the SAT for the rst time
in the spring of their junior year (U.S. grade 11) and again in the
fall of their senior year (U.S. grade 12). See the full 2023-24 SAT
administration calendar at cb.org/intlsat. Students register at
sat.org/register.
PRACTICE
To prepare for the digital SAT, students have access to a test
preview within the Bluebook app. This tool helps students get
familiar with functions of the app and the structure of the
digital test. There are also sample questions to learn what they’ll
encounter on test day and how to properly enter their answers.
Students can access full-length adaptive digital practice tests in
the Bluebook app. This lets students experience digital testing,
familiarize themselves with test content, and make sure their
testing device supports the app and is ready to use on test day.
The Ocial Digital SAT Study Guide is also available for purchase
at bookstores or at store.collegeboard.org. For more information
on practice for the SAT, visit sat.org/practice.

What is Bluebook?
College Board has developed Bluebook, our own customized digital testing app that allows us to respond faster to user needs. In addition to
providing resources like ocial practice exams and a test preview, the Bluebook app is equipped with helpful tools like a timer, a highlighter,
a built-in Desmos graphing calculator, and an answer eliminator. bluebook.collegeboard.org
SAT Suite of Assessments (continued)
The PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 provide meaningful practice
for the SAT by allowing student to test in a timed, realistic environment
on the same platform as the SAT. Additionally, the PSAT-related
assessments can provide schools with valuable longitudinal data to
track a student’s progress in high school, guide instruction, and help
identify students who are ready for Advanced Placement
®
courses.
PSAT/NMSQT
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
Students who took the PSAT/NMSQT scored higher on the SAT, on
average, than those who didn’t take the test.
satsuite.org/why-psat-nmsqt
PSAT 10 AND PSAT 8/9
The PSAT 10, which covers the same content areas as the
PSAT/NMSQT, serves as a check-in on progress, allowing students
and teachers to pinpoint areas for focused practice as students
progress through high school. The PSAT 8/9 sets a readiness
baseline early in high school and provides the ability to monitor
growth over time as students move through the SAT Suite.

satsuite.org/why-p89
AP POTENTIAL
AP Potential
is a free, online tool to help schools identify students
likely to succeed in AP
®
based on their performance on the PSAT 8/9,
PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, or SAT. In addition, the online student score
report includes information about recommended AP courses and
university major match.
PRACTICE FOR PSAT-RELATED ASSESSMENTS
Full-Length Adaptive Digital PSAT-Related Practice Tests
Students can access practice tests in the Bluebook app. We
recommend students access the test preview in Bluebook or take
the full-length practice test for the digital PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 8/9.
This will let them experience digital testing and familiarize
themselves with test content.
Because the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and PSAT/NMSQT follow the
same assessment design principles as the SAT, students can
also go to Khan Academy’s free, focused SAT practice resources
at sat.org/digital-practice to get ready for the tests. For students
who will test with paper-based accommodations, linear practice
tests are available for download.
Schools can administer the digital PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and
PSAT/NMSQT on as many days of the testing windows as
needed, Monday through Friday.
ORDERING AND REGISTRATION
Educators can test their students in their own school. PSAT-related
assessments—including the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9—
are available for schools to order tests online, all in one place. For
digital testing, schools will need to register their students.
ordering.collegeboard.org
The previous test ordering system is now the SAT Suite Ordering and
Registration system. New benets include a pricing estimator, the
ability for schools to place orders, and longer testing windows that allow
for testing on multiple days (one test per student) or retests if needed.
IMPORTANT DATES
You’ll nd all dates and deadlines for PSAT-related assessments at
sat.org/suite-info. The PSAT/NMSQT will also be supported on
Saturday, Oct. 14.

Advanced Placement Program
The Advanced Placement
®
Program (AP
®
) gives high school students
the opportunity to study and learn at the university level. It oers 40
courses and exams in a wide variety of subject areas. Nearly all colleges
and universities in the United States—as well as many institutions in
more than 60 other countries—grant credit, placement, or both for AP
scores or acknowledge AP scores in the admissions process.
AP CAPSTONE DIPLOMA PROGRAM
AP Capstone
is a diploma program from College Board based on
two yearlong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. Rather than
teaching subject-specic content, these courses develop students’
skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration,
writing, and presenting. Students who complete the two-year
program can earn one of two dierent AP Capstone awards:
AP Capstone Diploma
or AP Seminar and Research Certicate
. Both
are valued by universities across the United States and around the world.
An AP Capstone school must oer AP Seminar in Year 1 before they
can oer AP Research in Year 2. Apply to oer AP Seminar in 2024-25:

Services for Students
with Disabilities (SSD)
College Board is committed to providing accommodations—such as
extra breaks, braille, or extended time—to students with disabilities.
All testing accommodations must be approved by the College Board
SSD oce prior to the test. Schools can use SSD Online to request,
manage, and track accommodation requests. For information on
how to access SSD Online, visit collegeboard.org/ssdonline.
The accommodation approval process takes approximately seven
weeks when document review is needed. To ensure enough time to
process your students’ requests, accommodation requests should be
submitted as early as possible. Once SSD approves accommodations,
the student can then use the same accommodations throughout high
school without reapplying. A full calendar of deadlines can be found at
collegeboard.org/ssd-calendar.

Pre-AP
Pre-AP
®
courses deliver grade-level instruction through focused
course frameworks, instructional resources, classroom assessments
for learning, and high-quality professional learning. They’re designed
to support all students across varying levels of readiness. They’re
not honors or advanced courses. The program components
provide educators and their students the space and time for deep
engagement with the most essential and relevant concepts and
skills, and courses are back mapped from AP course expectations.
Across Pre-AP courses, students experience shared instructional
practices and routines that develop the critical thinking skills they
need to succeed in AP and other university-level coursework.
Participating schools receive an ocial Pre-AP designation for
each course. This designation signals consistent, high standards
in focused courses that build, strengthen, and reinforce students’
content knowledge and critical thinking skills.

colleges, universities, professional schools, and scholarship
programs to award nonfederal institutional aid. The application is
available on October 1 each year and unlocks access to billions of
dollars in nonfederal institutional funds annually.
A College Board account is required to complete a CSS Prole
application. Students are asked to use the College Board account
they used when registered for the PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, or AP. Once
students create an account, they can start, return to, complete, and
submit the application at any time. Institutional deadlines for the
application will vary and are available on the individual institutional
websites.
Once submitted, the CSS Prole application is sent securely to
designated universities or programs. Students can identify additional
institutions to receive their application after submission.
