Visiting from Germany, author Barbara Ortwein will discuss “At Journey’s
End: Texas Forever,” the nal book in her Texas Saga Trilogy. She will also

Local geologist Jim Flis has made available a collection of rocks and
fossils for display at the South Branch. Explore geological time through

Come and meet the instruments! Members of the
North Texas Student Music Educators, who are
music students at UNT, will let children explore how

from Texas dinosaurs.

Carnivores vs Herbivores with Dino Bo!
This interactive
educational
program teaches
children how
carnivores hunted
and herbivores
kept from
becoming a
meal. Kids enjoy
learning how their
favorite dinosaurs defended themselves from hungry
carnivores! After the presentation, examine real
fossils from several of the dinosaurs discussed.

Reimagination: Book Art Contest
Bring your favorite book to life! Get creative: Are
you a pro photographer? A painting prodigy? A

Pandemic Poetry
Part of the series “Professor’s Corner: A Literary Discussion
Group.” Pandemics elicit strong emotion, which is often
expressed through poetry. Dr. Stephen Souris will lead a
discussion of poetry arising from pandemic times. Hybrid

Satanic Panic
A widespread fear of satanic ritual abuse struck the U.S. in the
1980s, but the conspiratorial thinking and anxiety that fueled it
has been with us since the Salem witch trials. Dr. Laredo will
examine the cause of mass hysteria in Salem and discuss how
the Satanic Panic still persists in Qanon conspiracy theories.

Paper Marbling with Acrylics*
Paper marbling is a form of art that involves oating paint on
the surface of water. A pattern is made using combs, takes,
or small tools and then transferred onto paper or various
surfaces, such as canvas. Acrylic is permanent, so wear your

Kumihimo Wire Weaving Part I & Part II*
Translate the technique of Kumihimo braiding to weaving with
wire. Prior knowledge of Kumihimo is useful, but not necessary

purchased directly from glowforge.com.

Create prototypes,

using wood, soft metals
(aluminum and brass),
and plastics (Delrin,
acrylic, polycarbonate)
with the desktop CNC
machine in the Forge
Makerspace. Bring your
own wood, soft metal,
or plastic materials to
create your project.
Electronics and Supply Cabinet
Take a look in the blue storage cabinets in the
Makerspace to nd the electronic equipment or
craft tool you need! Electronic tools include
soldering irons, Arduino kits, Makey Makeys, and
more. You’ll also nd craft tools such as the sewing
machine, rotary cutters and mats, sewing scissors,
yarn ball winders and yarn swifts.
The New Forge Makerspace at North Branch
The Forge at North Branch Library is a makerspace that provides the knowledge to innovate, the space to
collaborate, and the tools to help you bring your ideas to life. The Forge offers resources for fabrication,
crafting, electronics, digital creation, and more! Over the past year, the Forge has been updated with new
equipment. The Forge renovation is funded by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services
and Texas State Library and Archives Commission (Grat #LS246561-OLS-20). See some of the new equipment

Mobile Hotspots
The library has 45 mobile wi- hotspots available for
checkout. Mobile wi- hotspots are small devices
that allow you to access the internet wherever you
are. Each hotspot can provide wi- internet for 4-6
devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.).
15 of the mobile wi- hotspots were funded by a
grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library
Services and Texas State Library and Archives
Commission (Grat #LS246561-OLS-20).

your Cricut Design Space account to design your
perfect project and bring it to life.
Mango Language Learning
Mango language learning is now available at
Denton Public Library! Mango replaces Pronunciator
and offers over 70 world languages and more than
20 ESL/ELL courses to engage learners of all ages
and build speaking skills and retention.
