Makeup time
The superintendent determines makeup times. The School Board retains the right to modify the calendar.
Important Dates
First day of school
Elementary schools:
• Aug. 22, is the first day for all students in grades 1-5.
• All kindergarten students will attend school during the first week; however, there will be a staggered schedule
for students.
○ Some students will attend Aug. 22-23; others will attend Aug. 24-25. (Schools will assign students to
specific days.) This will allow students to become more familiar with their new surroundings in a smaller
classroom setting.
○ All kindergarten students will report to school daily starting Aug. 26.
Middle and high schools:
• Aug. 22 is the first day for sixth- and ninth-grade students only.
○ This will allow for a successful transition of students moving from one school level to another, and will
allow staff members to begin to build relationships and share expectations.
• All other middle and high school students will start school Aug. 23.
