Are they college-bound?
Here are two opportunities that they might be interested in pursuing…
The Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP) provides an
opportunity for highly able 7

grade students to build their test taking skills by participating in
an out-of-level testing experience. Students who qualify can choose to take the ACT or SAT.
Students may qualify for TIP by scoring at the 95
th
percentile or higher on a grade level
standardized achievement, aptitude, or mental ability test battery.
Online enrollment deadlines:
October 21
st
for December testing
December 9
th
for January/February testing (paper application deadline is Nov. 4

TIP Option
Students who did not qualify or who missed the enrollment period for Duke TIP's 7th Grade
Talent Search can still join Duke TIP through TIP Option. With TIP Option, students take the
ACT or SAT on their own and report their scores to Duke TIP. 7
th
grade students who did not
qualify for the Talent Search (did not score 95% or above) and 8
th
grade students who did not
participate in the 7
th
Grade Talent Search program are eligible for TIP Option.
